Qualifying - Monaco Grand Prix

#28 by Klon , Sun May 15, 2011 7:20 pm

Just like stated in the Formula 2 report we are in Monaco, home of the rich and (more or less) beautiful. There's no place where you would like more to have pole position, mainly because it is so important. Jake Sanson, the 2009 and 2010 world champion, was the man to take pole position from Eddie Williams and his Hungarian team mate.

Race - Monaco Grand Prix

#29 by Klon , Sun May 15, 2011 7:45 pm

The biggest challenge are the 78 laps on the streets of Monaco. Not many men and women were made to deal with it and even less were made to win it. Jake Sanson wasn't - at least not today. He slammed into the wall and while he was not injured, it was still a shocking experience. This turned the race into a battle of Eddie Williams vs. Leszek Leuenberger until the former's left front Pirelli tire failed two laps short of the flag. He managed to end up in ninth place, but it was still not as good as hoped. While this was truly sad for Williams it allowed for a historic result: for the first time in the history of F1, two women were on the podium in second and third place.
